Type of certified compliance
Lawyers and paralegals need to trust that every serve complies with the applicable rules and law, every proof of service is accurate, and every process server has been fully vetted to meet the highest professional standards.
At Proof, we’ve built our platform around that trust. We invest in technology that helps prevent inaccurate serves and fraud, hold ourselves accountable through transparency, and act with urgency when issues arise.
Fraudulent service of process—sometimes called “sewer service” in the legal industry—carries real consequences. It can delay litigation, expose firms to sanctions, and undermine public confidence in the legal system. It also damages the reputation of the thousands of dedicated process servers who take their responsibilities seriously every day.
That’s why our integrity framework is designed to protect the firms we serve and the professionals in our network.
It’s also the reason Proof exists—after our founder, a litigator and former managing partner, lost a long-time client when a process server’s work didn’t survive an evidentiary hearing. He set out to build a technology platform where firms never have to wonder whether a serve actually happened the way an affidavit says it did through transparency and added proof
FRAUD PREVENTION
Rigorous standards before a serve ever happens
We don’t wait for problems to surface.
Proof’s approach to process serving integrity starts with how we evaluate and vet the professionals in our network doing the hard work of serving documents, continues with the technology built into every serve, and is backed by expert human review and knowledge.
Selective server vetting
We accept fewer than 20% of applicants to our national network of independent contractor process servers. Every prospect server undergoes a 7-year criminal background check prior to working with us, and we continuously monitor banned-server lists across jurisdictions. We also run drive-time feasibility analyses to ensure servers are physically positioned to complete serves honestly—because proximity is one of the simplest safeguards against fabricated attempts.
Our standards aren’t just about screening out bad actors. They’re about creating an environment where professional process servers can do their best work, supported by consistent expectations and a platform that protects the credibility of their service.
Built-in fraud detection technology
Every serve executed through Proof runs on our proprietary platform, which includes embedded protections against GPS spoofing, jailbroken devices, device sharing, and duplicate accounts. We’ve integrated best-in-class GPS fraud prevention technology directly into the serve workflow, so safeguards are active in real time, not applied after the fact.
These protections strengthen every proof of service that flows through our system, giving law firms confidence that documentation reflects what actually happened in the field.
Expert human review
Technology catches patterns. People catch what technology can't. Our compliance team is staffed by industry experts with deep process serving experience. They review attempts and documentation by hand, supported by our detection tools to ensure accurate affidavits and compliance with rules and law.
No algorithm replaces the professional judgment needed to evaluate edge cases, and we don’t pretend otherwise.
Process servers do some of the most thankless work in the legal system. They deserve a platform that takes that seriously, one that gives them the tools to do their job with integrity and gives our clients the confidence to trust the result.
RESPONSE
When issues arise, we act quickly and transparently
No system eliminates every risk. What matters is what happens next.
Proof follows a clear, documented response protocol whenever we identify evidence of a fraudulent serve or a breach of our clients requirements and legal standards.
Notify and flag: We notify the affected client immediately and flag all potentially impacted serves for review.
Investigate: We conduct a thorough investigation into the facts, in coordination with the client, examining GPS data, timestamps, documentation, and server history.
Remove: If a server’s actions are found to breach Proof’s standards, we remove them from the network immediately.
Re-serve: We re-dispatch impacted jobs for service at our client’s request, at no additional cost, to minimize disruption to their cases.
Report: When warranted, we inform relevant regulatory bodies or law enforcement to support broader industry accountability.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
No system is perfect, but ours keeps getting better
Proof will continuously strengthen our safeguards and respond with urgency and integrity when issues arise. Our commitment to service of process isn’t a policy document; it’s how we operate, every day, for every serve.
If you have questions about our integrity practices, our compliance team is available to walk through our approach in detail.
