The Proof origin story

Proof was founded in 2017 by Eric Voogt, a veteran attorney of more than 20 years. As a litigator, he knew that service of process was long overdue for a technological upgrade. His paralegal was tired of calling process serving companies to see if they had availability, faxing documents, and waiting to get updated on serve statuses.

After losing a client due to a process serve error, I knew there had to be a better way than the traditional process. That’s why we created Proof.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and one negative ruling from the bench during an evidentiary hearing made it clear that service of process needed a 21st-century solution and he was the right person to take on the challenge.

With Co-Founders Matt Jaffe and Mark Kreloff, Voogt built a legal-service marketplace that modernized service of process. Their platform introduced several "firsts" for the legal tech industry, including live tracking throughout the workflow that allows law firms to see progress all serve attempts in real-time, employing machine learning to “read” document read court documents and automatically extract case information, and geofencing that matches legal practices to connect with the closest available independent process server based on the defendant's address.
